On April 28, Hawaii’s Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) hosted it’s first ever Large Prime Matchmaking Event. The event was hosted at the Oahu Veterans Center in Honolulu to help small businesses that might be too small for prime contracts find subcontracting opportunities with large prime contractors in the Naval bases on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam and Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

The small business founders had time to undertake an elevator pitch to larger firms, focusing on infrastructure, construction, and engineering capabilities.

Recently, NAVFAC awarded $20 million in contracts to Architects Pacific Inc. The contract will offer architect-engineer design and engineering services and will be performed at Navy and Marine Corps installations at multiple locations within the NAVFAC Hawaii AOR.

This initiative by the NAVFAC will help the Navy to meet its small business targets, specifically for women-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned, and HUBZone firms. The networking opportunities can allow these small businesses to get their stake in federal contracts.

The NAVFAC also hosts an annual industry forum that allows these business owners to interact with SMEs about procurement and technical requirements for obtaining Naval contracts.
