The City of Fort Worth has launched a new Small Business Development Program (SBDP) aimed at revitalizing the local economy by providing support to local entrepreneurs and firms.
The program, which is managed by the city’s Economic Development Department, is basically a one-stop shop for businesses to get advice, training, and the necessary resources to start, expand, and compete for city contracts.
Particularly through the SBDP, a businessperson can get step-by-step assistance in working out the plan, legal issues, raising money, and preparing for bids. The program is designed to remove those barriers that often restrict opportunities for small businesses, especially those seeking to engage in public contracting by scaling up.
The local government considers the project essential for the various companies in the area, as it will create new employment opportunities and increase cash circulation in the neighborhood. The program was endorsed by the city council through a unanimous vote, an indication of the commitment of the city to the business environment in the long term.
Actually, this step is a reflection of the pattern across the country. Maryland policymakers are promoting the establishment of a Department of Social and Economic Mobility, while the federal government is implementing changes to SBA programs that are altering the small business landscape all over the country.
