Turner Construction Company has started a new department focused on rental equipment. The new rental unit will allow Turner to diversify its services and begin capturing shares from other companies offering construction services.

Turner will also be able to provide more than just construction services, but will also be able to supply tools and equipment to contractors who do not need to own them.

The equipment world lists the rental unit as having a variety of heavy and light options to help support Turner on all of its projects and to help support third-party clients. The rental unit will allow greater flexibility for partners and subcontractors when working on projects and will reduce the costs that the contractors incur during the project.

Turner is launching this rental program at an important time in construction history, where there is still high demand and increased costs for constructing buildings because of supply chain constraints, high material prices, and inflationary cost increases across many areas of the industry.

The new rental service also aligns with the company's current business strategy, which includes offering its customer base additional value from the initial phase of a project to the final phases, and includes items outside of traditional contracting and construction. Other construction industry companies have said that Turner could gain a significant financial advantage over other construction companies if it develops similar rental programs.

The company continues to make significant strides across the nation in project delivery. A prime example of that is in Port Washington, Wisconsin, where they are overseeing the operation of a high-tech data centre with partner McCarthy Building Company. With this project, Turner proves its commitment to mission-critical facilities.

Turner's expansion of equipment rental services has come in conjunction with the development of major construction projects. For example, they are hoping to be a part of the $3.8 billion redevelopment of the Dallas Convention Centre, which is a highly visible public infrastructure project that will serve as a convention hub.

Likewise, Turner is involved in many high-profile private projects, such as the $780 million contract to build a Soccer Stadium in New York City. This is another example of Turner's capacity to deliver large, complex venues.

As Turner begins to provide open equipment rentals, the construction industry will keep a close watch on how this service integrates into standard project workflows and how it will affect the national competitive environment for the rental business.
