The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), in collaboration with various minority business associations, is hosting an information session for small and diverse businesses. The session, which focuses on potential business opportunities related to the Blatnik Bridge replacement project, will take place on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Superior Entrepreneurship Center in Superior, Wisconsin.
This event comes as the Minnesota and Wisconsin Departments of Transportation (MnDOT and WisDOT) have jointly received over $1 billion from the federal INFRA grant to fund the Blatnik Bridge project, a major infrastructure initiative connecting Duluth, MN, to Superior, WI. The project will bring significant procurement opportunities for Wisconsin businesses, particularly those owned by underrepresented communities.
WEDC’s partnerships with the Latino Chambers of Commerce, the African American Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin, the Hmong Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce, and First American Capital Corp. are helping hundreds of businesses grow each year. The upcoming session aims to connect small and diverse business owners with resources, networking opportunities, and information on how to participate in this substantial project.
Diverse businesses, especially those owned by underrepresented communities, play a crucial role in strengthening Wisconsin’s economy. By fostering job creation and generational wealth, these enterprises inspire others to dream big and succeed. WEDC’s statewide network and collaboration with various organizations provide the financial, operational, and networking support businesses need to thrive.
Interested businesses are encouraged to reserve their spot and take advantage of this opportunity to contribute to and benefit from Wisconsin’s growing economy.
