Baltimore City Council is implementing a LGBTQ Procurement Preference Act in order to expand LGBTQ Business Enterprise invovlement with City contracts . The LGBTQBE program will be managed by the Minority and Women’s Business Opportunity Office, which will be establishing and monitoring the eligibility requirements for interested LGBTQ firms who are seeking to win city contracts.

The goal is to establish a race-and gender-neutral procurement process, providing tools to the City that will ensure all LGBTQ businesses have an equal and fair opportunity to participate and win City contracts in architecture, construction, engineering, professional services as well as materials, supplies and equipment.

The LGBTQBE program fosters the City’s goals in creating a fair, diverse and inclusive vendor community that provides equal bidding opportunities. Baltimore City Council aims to provide support to ensure LGBTQ owned business enterprises can compete in the bidding process.
