The Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced the open house would be an opportunity for contractors to network and “learn about upcoming work in King, Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom and Island counties.”

Information on more than 80 upcoming projects in these counties will be presented at the event.

The press release notes that the department relies on private partners to undertake important highway projects and “restoring critical fish habitat by removing undersized culverts. The open house is a way to further strengthen those connections.”

"We strive to be an 'owner of choice' by offering good working relationships for contractors and consultants on projects that provide a significant public benefit," WSDOT Assistant Regional Administrator Messay Shiferaw said . "We collaborate with our contractors and the end result is a better outcome for all involved."

WSDOT staff including engineers will be available for networking during the event with the goal of developing partnerships with contractors for future projects. The event will include a presentation and overview of upcoming construction projects as well as breakout sessions for contractors to learn more about specific projects on the state’s agenda.
