The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and their Office of Civil Rights is encouraging Disabled Business Enterprises (DBEs) to compete for state contracts. In-person workshops and outreach events will be held in all 14 highway divisions in order to inform and educate disadvantaged business owners on how to win state contracts. The NCDOT is encouraging all small, minority-owned and woman-owned businesses to participate.

The NCDOT advertises for small and large projects, however the lack of DBE involvement may be due to DBE owners not being informed on how to conduct business and win contracts with the DOT. The outreach events will review the types of contracts, the types of advertisements for future projects, as well as the awarding process.

All interested business owners and representatives are encouraged to participate and attend the in-person workshops. For more information, visit the NCDOT web page devoted to this initiative and watch the video about contract opportunities.
