On April 22, 2021, the North Hempstead Town Board approved the adoption of a local law that will establish a preference for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses (SDVOBs).

North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth expressed interest in finding new ways to appreciate, acknowledge and give back to all of their local veterans. The goal of this procurement preference is to increase participation levels for SDVOBs and increase the number of the awarded contract they receive.

This procurement policy will authorize awarding certain contracts for goods and services to the lowest SDVOB bidder that is registered with New York State and is within 5 percent of the lowest quote.
