The Phoenix Public Transit Department is launching an Availability and Disparity Study to assess the use of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) in the local transportation contracting market. To engage the business community, the department is inviting women-owned, and minority-owned businesses to attend virtual community meetings scheduled for September 24, 2024.
The meetings will provide an overview of the study, highlight upcoming business opportunities with the City of Phoenix, and offer a platform for participants to provide feedback and ask questions. Mason Tillman Associates, the firm contracted to conduct the study, will analyze the Public Transit DBE program’s contracting practices to determine if these businesses have equal access to public contracts. The study will also recommend solutions to improve participation in the DBE program.
The disparity study aims to use the findings and input from local businesses to enhance the competitiveness of DBEs in Phoenix. Businesses do not need to be DBE-certified to attend the meetings, and public feedback is highly encouraged.
Two virtual meetings will be held via Webex, with the same material presented at both sessions—one at 9 a.m. and another at 1 p.m. on September 24, 2024. Links for registration and meeting access are provided on the Phoenix Public Transit website.
For further information, questions, or concerns about the study or the meetings, interested parties can contact Mason Tillman Associates at (602) 613-0644 or visit phoenix.gov/publictransit/dbe.
Those needing access to accommodations can call Lars Jacoby at (602) 534-6192 to make arrangements.
