Major transportation upgrades in North Carolina have reached a significant milestone with the completion of key highway segments.
The company Balfour Beatty's work on this has included parts of the Fayetteville Outer Loop and the Havelock Bypass. Together, the projects cost almost $1.3 billion and will have a huge impact on local mobility, reducing traffic jams and helping boost job growth in line with the state's overall planning goals.
Briefly, new construction includes many anticipated stretches of Fayetteville Outer Loop, part of which is Interstate 295, a main thoroughfare designed to enhance overall movement in and around Fayetteville.
According to officials, this highway will not only avoid traffic jams in the main city but also provide better access to Fort Liberty and nearby communities. On the other hand, Havelock Bypass is simply a re-route for vehicles through Havelock City, thus eliminating crossings through the city center and improving travel on U.S. 70.
For the above major infrastructure works, which also included extensive earthmoving, bridge works, drainage systems, and pavement construction, Balfour Beatty was one of the main contractors in charge. With these projects being part of the company's US infrastructure work, they clearly reflect its ability to deliver major transport projects on time despite challenging schedules and complex engineering demands.
Besides highways, North Carolina has been investing a big chunk of its budget in other public infrastructure programs as well. A big part of recent spending goes for school renovation in the amount of $392 million, which is just another way the state continues to invest in public facilities alongside transportation improvements.
On the other hand, transportation funding remains the largest part of expenditure. Moreover, the government has set aside 1.15 billion dollars for the repair and maintenance of roads in the whole state. It means that, in addition to modernizing infrastructure, the state is also repairing and maintaining the old highways and local roads.
With the Fayetteville Outer Loop and Havelock Bypass finally opened to the public, the economic growth of eastern North Carolina is on the horizon. It also reflects Balfour Beatty's standing as a leading player in the U.S. transportation construction industry.
