Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont has initiated an independent disparity study in order to review current state contracting and determine which businesses are currently being underutilized.

In liaison with the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services and the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, Governor Lamont expressed his goal of introducing policies that will increase opportunities to women-owned businesses (WBE) and minority-owned businesses (MBE). The disparity study will help shine light on the current lack of support for these underutilized businesses.

The governor has emphasized that although it may not be practical to conduct a study of this size, it is highly necessary in order to support the underutilized businesses in state contracting. In order to provide networking opportunities along with mentoring and training, Connecticut's Department of Administrative Services is asking for independent contractors to participate in the study.dis
