Every year, the City of Philadelphia seeks to fulfill 35% of all contracts through minority, woman, or disabled-owned businesses (M/W/DSBEs).

Registering as a M/W/DSBE with the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) can open doors to new opportunities for small businesses. They have preferences in the City contracting process if approved and registered.

The City is seeking to provide small disadvantaged businesses with more resources and education to help them thrive.

Each monthly educational workshop aims to provide paths to generational wealth for M/W/DSBE.

Through the workshops, small businesses will be able to:

  • Learn about the resources available
  • Discover new possibilities to grow with City contracts
  • Plan out a strategy for exploring future business opportunities
  • Connect with firms that share the same interests

The OEO offers two virtual monthly series in collaboration with the Procurement Department.

  1. Doing Business in the City events ( will be conducted each month's third Wednesday)
  2. Business Development events ( will be conducted each month's fourth Wednesday)

Time: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST

Timeline: Workshops on Wednesdays will be provided from January to June and September to November 2023.
