The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Marcia L. Fudge has announced the awarding of “Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grants” totaling $370 million to eight communities throughout the USA.

These awards support areas that have undergone a comprehensive local planning process and are ready to implement their “Transformation Plan” to redevelop the neighborhood.

Making the announcement in Alabama,  she explained, “This investment represents HUD’s commitment to creating new housing for Birmingham residents and communities across the country… When we envision the future of public housing investment, we think of programs like Choice Neighborhoods.
