SBE firms included in $14.7m Tampa Bay Innovation Center Project

Florida's Pinnella County is moving forward with the construction of the new Tampa Bay Innovation Center. 

The center will focus on helping entrepreneurs and increasing SBE (Small Business Enterprise) participation in the region of Pinellas County. 

The county received various bids from contractors, bidding on the Innovation Center project. The Bandes Construction Company Inc. was awarded the project with the contract amount of $14.7 million. 

Bandes will be using SBE subcontractors on the job, according to county officials.

The local website Catalyst reports, “The county’s SBE (Small Business Enterprise) qualified firms have been provided to Bandes and their participation is encouraged throughout the construction of the project..".

Four other bids were submitted, according to county documents, but lost out to Bandes' low bid:

  • Trias Construction LLC: close to $15.16 million
  • David Nelson Construction Co.: close to $15.66 million
  • LEMA Construction and Developers Inc.: close to $16.1 million
  • Manhattan Construction Company: close to $16.2 million
