The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) is hosting regular virtual business meetings with LGBTQ business owners, allowing them to informally pitch their ideas to a panel of experts, giving LGBT small business owners a chance to receive free feedback and even potentially connect them with purchasers, suppliers, and procurement experts.

NGLCC is a not-for-profit advocacy organization that offers third party certification and helps connect LGBT businesses with corporate partners and government agencies.

The applications to participate in the virtual conferences are rolling and based on selection, but that shouldn’t dissuade you from giving it a shot if you are not fully satisfied with the state of your pitch. In fact, the event is explicitly accepting such pitches.

“If you have a 5 minute (or less) presentation with all the bells and whistles: great! If not: that’s great, too! Simply bring your ‘elevator pitch’ and any messaging you’d like to work on with our experts,” the application form reads.

While they are only accepting mock pitches in this format, the meetings could provide a number of benefits to LGBT business owners, including a “no cost constructive feedback to help you improve your pitch,” a chance to “build relationships with key buyers and strategic partner,” and learn more about other businesses certified by the NGLCC.

After two hours of rotating pitches, a community conversation is held during the final hour of the event, allowing LGBT business owners to network with one another.

According to Utah’s Standard-Examiner,1.4 million business owners are part of the LGBT community in the USA, generating $1.7 trillion for the economy annually, while LGBT consumers purchase $917 billion in goods each year.

“The more that we ensure the playing field is level and that everyone has an opportunity to be on that playing field, fairly, is how we live,” NGLCC Senior Vice President Jonathan Lovitz told the outlet. “It’s how our economy gets stronger; it’s how our society becomes more cohesive and respectful and tolerant of one another; it’s how we develop the future of so many of our workforces and industries.”
