In an effort to improve highways in the West Valley, Arizona DOT has completed work on Loop 303 in North Peoria, widening it from two to three lanes in both directions between Happy Valley and Lake Pleasant parkways.

As the AZDOT press release notes, also included was the opening of the new Jomax Parkway interchange.

The night prior to the project’s completion, a separate project was completed in Peoria, the construction of a section of the Jomax Parkway between Vistancia Boulevard and the highway.

“Construction of entrance and exit ramps as part of the Jomax Parkway interchange combined with Peoria’s new roadway provides drivers with another convenient option for traveling between Loop 303 and Vistancia Boulevard,” the press release states.

The new projects greatly enhance traffic capacity with the new lanes spanning six miles. New freeway bridges to travel over the Beardsley Canal and the Jomax Parkway interchange also improve traffic in the area.

The project was funded by the Maricopa Association of Governments’ Regional Transportation Plan, which is in-turn funded by a dedicated sales tax approved by county voters in 2004.
