Chief among the accomplishments is that the Rebuilding Michigan bond program added a whopping $1 billion in funds for road and bridge construction projects in 2021, supporting more than 10,000 jobs across the state.

As a press release from MDOT notes, the bond program investments centered on the most traversed state highways and bridges as well as “important tourist routes.”

"When you think about the incredible work that MDOT is doing, in the midst of a pandemic, utilizing the bonding proceeds from the work that we did last year, this is the work that we are getting done," Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said. “This increases quality of life. It increases return on investment. It's why addressing infrastructure right now, in this way, is so important.”

The video below recaps some of MDOTs biggest projects in 2021 and their importance to the state.
