North Carolina’s DOT Expands DBE Outreach Efforts

200 people representing more than 150 firms have participated in North Carolina's DBE focused events.

The Office of Civil Rights of North Carolina's Department of Transportation is expanding its outreach to disadvantaged business enterprises (DBEs). On Sep 25th it held a virtual event focused on integrating local DBE firms into freeway and highway construction.

The areas of the state that the DOT's Highway Division 2 focuses on are Beaufort County, Carteret County, Craven County, Greene County, Jones County, Lenoir County, Pamlico County, and Pitt County.

WNCT9 reports that "To date, over 200 people representing more than 150 firms have participated in the events. NCDOT awards contracts in mowing, litter pickup, landscaping, snow and ice removal, traffic control, painting, striping, road construction, and other areas. "
